1. New Members
If you’ve just joined, there’s plenty of documentation to catch you up. I would recommend reading through the past Team Newsletters on Google Drive. Email or text me if you have trouble accessing Google Drive or Trello.
Ensure that you have (or any friends that may be interested have) signed up via Google forms so we have your email and other information: http://goo.gl/forms/m3wZwevMPY26r0LG3
2. Machine Shop Update
The waterjet will not be ready this week. Assembly of the shredder will be pushed back to next week. That being said, the frame parts will be cut within the next week.
Members will also begin collecting and compiling the finished CAD drawings (both soft and hard copies) for our records.
I’m hoping that the Machine Shop can hold a workshop during the day this week to cover the frame (welding/cutting).
a) Basic drawings of the Shredder and the Extruder seem to be done. If you are working on additional drawings, or would like to, for the next two machines please touch base with Patrick Ma.
b) Lack of an assembly meeting this week also means that we will not be opening Gallery FM on Saturday for a workday. If your group is planning to work together, please coordinate offline.
If you missed the SCRUM this week, and would like to be assigned a task, contact your project manager or myself.
3. Advocacy
Grace Wark will be the manager of this project. She will also be in charge of printing out pictures and posters which we will use as visuals.
On another note, if anyone can help coordinate social media, it’s sorely needed. Message myself or Grace.
a) Logo Competition
We will need a logo and/or new name for our group. Please submit your idea/draft/name either on Trello (see Advocacy card) or Google Drive (04 Advocacy -> Logo Competition Dropbox)
b) Printing
Any poster drafts that we want to print out as aids will need to be dropped off under poster drafts in Google Drive (04 Advocacy -> Poster Drafts). This will help Grace organize and collect our collective work.
c) Tours
Be on the lookout for recycling plant tours. Also plan to take photos. (Trello for more details)
4. Education
Parisa & Co. have compiled some documents about the types of plastic that can be recycled (Google Docs), as well as how Canada deals with recycling (Trello). Grace will help us print some copies out in the next 3 weeks.
In the meantime, we’ll also be adding an ‘Inspiration’ section (Google Drive -> 06 Inspiration Dropbox). This would be suggestions of plastic creations, and potentially some CAD’s (or collection of CADs) of molds.
5. SCRUM and Doodle Poll
Our next SCRUM is on Wednesday, July 20 in Gallery FM.
Remember, SCRUMS are not work hours, they are delegation time. This is when we meet together to check on our progress and make sure that we’re on track. Be sure to check the Trello changes often.
